Berry enlisted 5/15/1861 at Greenville, SC into 1st SC Artillery and served in Companies G,D,F. He was captured at Bentonsville, NC (B.D. Derum) 3/22/1865. Transferred to Virginia then to Hart's Island Concentration Camp, New York Harbor on 4/7/1865. Transferred 6/30/1865 to Davids Island, NY Harbor and entered DeCamp General Hospital. He died 7/3/1865 of disease and was buried in what is now the Union Grounds of the Cypress Hills National Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, NY. From what I understand he is interred under the name of Perry Durn or Berry Drum in plot no. 3089. He is also filed under Benjamin Durham as well. Berry is my third great grandfather.
In the 1860 Census for Pickens County, South Carolina (Regiment 5), William Hollingsworth, age 66, is listed in the household of Berry Durham and wife Jane.
