Nancy Hobbs was probably never married to George Durham, and is most likely not the mother of Nathaniel Durham. "Mary Hobbs" is most likely a daughter from a previous marriage. George Durham may have been married before.

In the 1860 census for Rockingham County, NC - Thomas, age 18, and Susan Durham, age 13 are living in the houshold of Eaton and Judy Dickens.
