1. Samuel DURHAM was born about 1790 in place
unknown.1,2 I have placed Allen W. Durham, b. 1811, and John C.
Durham, b. 1817 here temporarily until I can find better evidence that Samuel
Durham and wife Sarah (Unknown) were their parents. In the 1840 Census for Hart
County, Kentucky, there are 2 Durham families listed: Samuel Durham and Allen
Durham. John C. Durham appears to be living in the household of Samuel Durham.
More research is needed.
It is interesting to note: Charles Blakey, age 3, is living in the household
of Allen W. Durham and wife Lucinda in the 1850 Census for Hart County, Kentucky.
There is a William Durham, age 44, listed with his family in the 1860 Census
for Hart County, Kentucky, who appears in the 1850 Census for Taylor County,
Kentucky living next door to a William and Mary Blakey. Also, one of the death
certificates for a child of John C. Durham states that John C. Durham was born
in Taylor County, Kentucky. This Durham family may have come from Taylor County,
Kentucky. Samuel DURHAM and Sarah HODGES were married on 11 Jan 1812 in Norfolk,
