Title: William and Katherine Durham Family
Author: Jack Durham 4jdurham@cableone.net
Publication: last Updated 20 July 2004
This is the William and Catherine/Katherine Durham that lived not far from London,
near the Clay County line. They had a whole bunch of kids and a lot of them stayed
in Laurel County.
This family is found in Clay County before the formation of Laurel County in
1826, when the part of Clay County they lived in became Laurel County. I believe
they are found on the 1830 and 1840 Laurel County census records. I know they
are found on the 1850 Laurel County Census. And I'm not sure after that.
There is a lot about this family in my grandmother's files. Isaac was the son
of William and Catherine. And I believe William 1898-1800 was also a son of William
and Catherine.
I've included some information so this is rather long - keep scroling.

According to the book of Hannah Cornett Magee the following is what she lists
for William Durham
WILLIAM DURHAM
It is believed that William Durham born in 1799-1800 was a son of William and
Katherine Durham. According to marriage records we found that William Durham
married Temperance Box in Knox County, Kentucky, Jan 19, 1824. William Durham
moved from Laurel County, Kentucky to a part of Owsley County, Kentucky that
later became Jackson County, when Jackson was formed. William and his brother
Isaac, settled on adjoining farms near Sand Gap on a place that became known
as Durham Ridge. William was buried in Jackson County between 1860-1870 as the
1870 census did not list him. The census of 1850 list their children as follows:
(2) Benjamin Durham b. 1 Dec 1824
