MURDERS WIFE, MOTHER-IN-LAW THEN SUICIDES
Hopkinsville, KY., Aug. 17- (1921).
After shooting and killing his 19 year old wife and Mr.s Harland Durham, 45, his mother-in-law, at their home ten miles from here, yesterday, Garvey McCord, 25 farmer, went to the home of his father, five miles from Hopkinsville, and committed suicide by swalling poison when officers attempted to arrest him.
When the fofficers approached McCord he was sitting on the front porch, his clothing covered with blood and a cocked revolver in his hand. He said he realized what he had done and declared he would not submit to arrest. Help was summoned by the officers but before it arrived McCord had drank the poison.
The couple eloped and were married at Clarksville, Tenn., last January. They later separated and the wife returned to her home. It is said Mrs. McCord was an expectant mother.
